A contrarian is a person who rejects prevailing popular opinions, trends, or majority wisdom, opting instead to take an opposing view. While genuine contrarianism is driven by independent critical thinking, it can sometimes manifest as a disruptive habit of disagreeing purely for the sake of being provocative.
